New energy cell insulation material: new energy battery security guard

As a key component of the battery interior, the new energy cell insulation material shoulders the task of preventing short circuit and leakage of the battery, ensuring the stable operation of the battery, and is the "security guard" of the new energy battery.

 

The traditional PET insulating film used to be the main force of cell insulation. It is made of single-sided tape with PET as the substrate and pressure sensitive adhesive. With good insulation properties, chemical resistance and tensile strength, it has occupied the mainstream position of electrical insulation and physical protection of power batteries for a long time in the past. However, in the face of the rapid development of new energy technology, its shortcomings are gradually exposed. In a high voltage environment, the breakdown resistance voltage of PET insulating film is difficult to meet the demand, and the bonding performance of its pressure-sensitive adhesive is limited, and it is easy to fall off and peel off when it is affected by external force, thus affecting the safety and stability of the battery.

 

In order to overcome these problems, new types of UV-coated insulation materials came into being and have become the new darling of the industry. The breakdown voltage of the UV coated insulation material can reach 2800-6000V, which is far higher than the 2500V of the PET insulating film, and the shear strength of the cell bonding is as high as 9-15Mpa, which is also better than the PET insulating film. Its curing speed is extremely fast, single cell spraying time is only 2-4S, can achieve 15-30PPM efficient production, a yield of 99%, ink utilization rate of 100%, the entire production process can also achieve a high degree of automation and intelligence, and no VOCs volatiles, more environmentally friendly.

 

In addition to UV coated insulation materials, PC insulation sheets are also commonly used as new energy cell insulation materials. It is made of insulated and flame-retardant PC film as the base material, and has the characteristics of insulation, flame retardant, fire prevention and high efficiency resistance. In new energy batteries, PC insulation is often used between cells to effectively prevent short circuit, and its flame retardant performance can slow the spread of fire and improve the safety performance of the battery when the battery is thermal out of control.

 

There are silicone elastomer insulation sheets, such as pure boron nitride filled silicone elastomer materials, with high thermal conductivity, super voltage resistance, low density, low dielectric properties, and ultra-thin, soft, toughness, can be backed by glue, with its own viscosity, can well meet the new energy vehicle battery and electronic packaging applications of thermal insulation needs, suitable for electric vehicles, energy storage batteries and other scenarios.

 

Powder coating as an emerging battery internal insulation solution, simple construction, one spray molding, easy to install and transport. Compared with the traditional blue film, the powder coating does not produce air gap, good adhesion, not easy to damage, insulation, corrosion resistance, humidity and heat stability and other properties are also very excellent.

 

With the continuous breakthrough of new energy technology, the performance requirements for new energy core insulation materials are also continuing to rise.
