National standard for battery insulation coatings: an important cornerstone for industry development

With the rapid development of the new energy industry, the application scenarios of batteries continue to expand, from electric vehicles to energy storage systems, the performance requirements for battery insulation coatings are also increasing. The introduction of the national standard for battery insulation coatings aims to ensure that the quality and performance of coatings meet the safety and use standards, so as to ensure the reliable operation of batteries.

At present, although the national standards specifically for battery insulation coatings have not been fully unified, the relevant industry standards and group standards have been gradually improved. For example, the group standard "Thermosetting Powder Coatings for Electrical Insulation" approved by the China Committee for Standardization of Materials and Tests (CSTM Standardization Committee) stipulates the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of thermosetting powder coatings for electrical insulation. According to different product application areas, thermosetting powder coatings for electrical insulation are divided into three categories, including thermosetting powder coatings for electronic components such as battery boxes, which to a certain extent standardizes the relevant standards for battery insulation coatings.

In addition, proposed by the Standardization Working Committee of the China Automotive Engineering Society, the csae standard "Flame retardant insulation electrophoretic coating for power battery packs" led by Halisen Chemical Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. has passed the project review and officially included in the development plan. The standard specifies the performance requirements of flame retardant insulating electrophoretic coatings used in power battery packs, defines the test standards and methods of flame retardant, insulation, anti-corrosion and other related properties, and specifies the inspection rules, marking, packaging and storage, etc., which is suitable for flame retardant insulating electrophoretic coatings used in power battery packs by electrophoretic coating process.

The development of these standards covers a number of key indicators of battery insulation coatings. In terms of insulation performance, the coating is required to have good voltage resistance and can effectively prevent current leakage; The flame retardant performance can not be ignored to avoid the danger of burning the battery under abnormal conditions; At the same time, there are also corresponding regulations on the adhesion, corrosion resistance, weather resistance, etc., to ensure that the paint can maintain stable performance in different environments.

The continuous improvement of the national standards for battery insulation coatings not only helps to regulate the market, improve product quality, but also promotes technical exchange and innovation between enterprises, and promotes the development of the entire battery industry in a safer and more efficient direction. With the continuous progress of technology, it is believed that the national standards for battery insulation coatings will be more comprehensive and strict in the future, providing a more solid guarantee for the development of the new energy industry.
